I had been poorly just after being told I had a dangerously overactive thyroid and so John said we should go away for Christmas. I could hardly walk and had a lot of trouble breathing but the doc said it was ok and maybe a warmer place would be beneficial so we decided to go to our timeshare in the Algarve. It was very close to the beach and we spent a lot of the time just sitting watching the sea or walking along the clifftops - it was warm but obviously not as hot as other times in the year. John waited on me hand and foot and nothing was too much trouble - 'in sickness and health' is what he kept telling me. We went to the gala dinner at the resort and had a magnificent meal complete with carols and a Father Christmas. When we got back we both felt as if our batteries had been well and truly recharged and we were ready for my treatment. I loved our trips to Portugal , tucking into a plateful of grilled sardines or having local food at the locals restaurants rather than the touristy places. Again , so many lovely memories of my trips away with my lovely John xxxxx
